9 Feb 2010The tire shop didn’t tie my front driver side tire, I was drivin down the street about 15 20 mph when the whole rim and tire flew out, my car landed on the rotor and I broke an axle and a ball joint I replaced them and do you think I missed anything what else you think it might need becaus eto me it looks like one tire sticks out more than the other, u think I might need a front end allignment or what? Can the problem be the car runs great and it doesent go to the side or anything

9 Feb 2010Ok so my tire came off and it landed on the rotor so I had to replace my ball joint and a cv axle, the car runs straight runs good etc, but it looks like a tire sticks out more from the side than the other idk if its with the incident or if it was like that before, do u think I might need a front end allignment or what ?

9 Feb 2010The 87 Ford F150 is a 2WD 4.9L in-line 6 manuel trans with dual tank. I changed the oil and oil filter, replaced the wiper motor with used part (mine was slow and stopping), new wipers, replaced the power booster with used part (mine had vacuum leak)(also this one is a little bigger then old one was), replaced bad seal in RR axle and added new gear oil, replaced 90% of brake lines because of rusty and broke when bleeding brakes (all clean brake Fluid now in lines), replaced center drag link (mine was egged and loose steering), replaced seals in steering for leaking, and added clamps to leaf springs (old ones broke or missing). I am not sure what else is need to do a tune up. I see and know of new spark plug wires and dis. cap. New starter and starter solenoid. The truck is running rich with black spitting out exhaust pipe. Have to change the valve cover gasket because of leaking oil as well as oil pan gasket. For oil pan gasket can i use the liquid gasket on it or buy a gasket? Please help me with my truck. How do i test the EGR valve also? Thank you!!
I have recently purchased the vehicle and since i have purchased it i have done the following: 4-wheel alignment, tire rotation and balancing, new brake rotors and pads and new CV joints (installed first in that list by previous owner just before i purchased). Yet after all that, i still feel the car shake between 55mph and 75mph in the steering wheel, floor board and seat cushion. I have ruled out the CV joints, tires and brakes so could the ball joints have anything to do with my issue, or is it something else? It is a STD 3-Door Hatch with over 200k on the ODO.
i have a focus svt. i posted a question asking what would cause it. the answers were brake booster, master cylinder, vacuum leak. the first dealer that i took it too, duplicated my problem, turned the rotors, put new pads on it. that solved nothing. they again duplicated the problem but told me there was nothing wrong. they said that was normal. they have a salesman there who has the same model, and he said it was normal. we parted on less than friendly terms.
when it did it again, i took the car to a different dealer. they said that the rotors were under spec. they replaced all four rotors. the car seems to stop okay so far,
the first dealer(both ford dealers) says the second was is just trying to make money. and the service manager says that the rotors wont cause my problem. that is amusing because they said that there was no problem.
can anyone help me? thanks!

9 Feb 2010its lowered, and the ball joints are bad, i am going to have them fix, my question is……will i keep going thru ball joints cuz its lowered??? is my best bet to lift it bak to the norm????
and is it true that when you replace the water pump you have to also replace the timing belt???

9 Feb 2010My ‘68 Chevy C10 shortbed has 6 lug by 5″ bolt pattern. I want to convert to power disk brakes by adding a vacuum booster and disk system from the yard. I need to keep cost to minimum. Before I buy new chrome wheels, I should convert to the new disk brakes in case the wheels are 5 bolt pattern and not the 6 lug. What car or truck should I be looking for so as to get the newest condition disk brake parts, and yet be EASY for me to change over? If I bought the whole junk car, I also need, and might be able to use the vacuum booster, PS, and radio. My ‘68 has none of these things right now. I replaced the wood bed myself and the body is getting painted (Ford) fire red right now. It will look nice. Please help with my wheels question or suggestions. Thanks

okay heres what happen .. the ABS light is on on my cluster and the traction control is stuck on OFF .. nothing wont change if i pressed on the the traction control botton :S
its a 2001 Ford Mustang GT .. Manuel shift and apperantly with a traction control
so i took it to tire plus and i dont think they knew what they were doing .. they told me to change this following things:
1-Calipers with pads
2- Brake Rotor
3-Master Cylinder
4-Remain P/B Booster
5-Remove and replace Power Brake Booster to bleed hydrolic booster and the cruise control interferesadd
and even more to change but you got the pic. .. estimate about $ 1,753
then i took the report to the Ford dealer and the guy was pretty nice and seemed like he actually cared because he told me to do it one at a time and he said that he doesnt think the report from “Tire Plus” made sence because he doesnt think the master cylinder and the other things they want got to do with the ABS light
so we run another test and got a new report and thats what the report say :
VERIFY ABS LIGHT COMING ON. PERFORM NESS, SCAN TEST, PID MONITOR TEST AND PIN POINT TEST. FOUND FAULTY HYDRALIC CONTROL UNIT AND ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. ESTEMATE TO REPAIR $ 2,265.00
the hydrolic control unit it self “HCU” is about $ 1500 from Ford
and the “ECU” cost about $ 800 with the labor for my old mustang when i fixed it .. but they said they ll do everything for $ 2,265.00
but i still dont like the price because i dont really wanna pay that much money now so i went to the junk yard and the guy said .. he ll give me the “HCU and ECU” for $ 150 with a 90 days warranty
but my cousin said those things are hard to put ur self because he tried to do it before and he end up taking it to a mechanic … is it really hard to do ???
and what report make more sence and what should i do ????

9 Feb 2010i have a 2001 honda civic lx and the ball joint in the right front tire is popping out. I took it to the mechanic and they said that the spindle had to be changed. So i went and got one at a junk yard. They put it in, and told me to go get it aligned. As i got to the alignment shop, the ball joint had popped out again. they dont know what could be causing it since everything seems fine. We notice that the tire tilts to the inside in the upper part of the tire. They say it could be a suspension problem. What do you think? , its the lower joint. what could be causing it to pop out

9 Feb 2010if you bleed a line at the master cylinder for the front brakes it releases both front wheels, after ahwile of driving the brake pedals get hard and the front brakes are dragging really bad. Checked the calipers and hoses, replaced the master cylinder, bled everything, still continues to do this.
Could this be the power booster? Any other suggestions?

9 Feb 2010Replaced power steering pump, noise went away, almost. Noise came back for on day, and then went away. It gets louder the sharper I turn, but I can still hear it from the front of my car without turning. Last night I noticed fluid (not water) leaking and it smelled like melting plastic. I was told the whining noise was from the brake booster, but it wasn’t a necessary fix. I need help because we have out so much money into this car and I don’t want to pay to have someone feed me a whole bunch of bull…Thank you to anyone who can help!

Anyways…this truck has sat for nearly a year…I’ve been working tirelessly to restore it…the reason the original owner stopped using it cause it would shut off when the brake was pressed…and this is very dangerous when driving as you cant break if its shut off…anyways..I fixed that too..the brake booster…
Now the problem I have now…..See…this motor, even though of its age and miles…still HAD great HP…in idle..the RPM is really low..I found a broken Vacuum hose…and I noticed it was easier to start up and the idle was a bit better after replacing it….this is the first time its been driven in a long time..it suddenly has a big drop in HP and skips…Im thinking its either dirty fuel…or..the timing is off…help?

9 Feb 2010I got a 92 honda civic and l lowered well slammed it pretty much and i got a blox camber kit for it cause i can see that my tires are wearing on the inside a little and i know that after i install the camber kit on it i will have to get it aligned but i was wondering about my ball joints i think i want to go ahead and replace those to the upper and lower on both sides i just wanted to know if i got get special aftermarket ones or will the stock ones be ok. i just recentny replaced the transmission, therefore i didnt feel like dropping the sub frame out so i pulled the engine and trans together. in doing so my buddy that was hepling me snaped off the stud for the charge wire off the altanator. after replaceing trans he attemped to tack weld the connector to the broken stud with the battery disconnected causing high voltage in the cars system. as he was doing this the interior light was flashing very brightly and clicking noises were comming from around where the cruise control module is by the brake booster.so after he was done we couldnt connect the battery because the terminal would ark (- side) like the + and – were touching in the car. so the outcomes were that we had to remove the p/w circut braker from the underhood fuse box allowing us to connect the battery. therefore the p/w p/locks dont work now and the airbag light flashes thinking he fried the power window module. is there a module and where is it located?? and the airbag mod?

8 Feb 2010….pedal-to-the-floor symptom. The car will still stop but not like it should. Fluid in the master cyl is ok, found no leaks at the wheels or lines,. I adjusted the rear drum brakes but it made little difference. There is a power booster next to the master cyl. Any thoughts?

8 Feb 2010About a week ago I heard a hissing noise under the hood at about mid throttle while driving, it kind of sounded like a power brake booster leak but the noise would go away with less or more throttle (the weather had just got really cold this day). Then about three days ago it made the same noise under the same throttle position. Now this morning it has no throttle response from about 35mph to 60mph. It basically runs great from idle to about ΒΌ throttle but then has no throttle response unless you mat the throttle. Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

not axles, not shocks, not ball joints so its whatever with the steering system.
what could it possibly be? and what could it cost me?
