ok i have a 1989 gmc S15. im tired of ball joints failing me. i want to put in a straight front axle. but have no idea where to find a cheap conversion kit. i was just thinking of finding a wreaked full size truck with one and swaping the parts over. [...]

At the shop, the front axle is wiped and greased every time it is removed from any bike. Its mainly to make the axle slip through the bearings smoothly and ease removal next time out.

My front axle has been in a bit of bad shape these past months. There was grinding when I turned. I just recently replaced the brakes and rotors on the front of my 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now there is a very loud constant knocking when I drive on the road. [...]

I need to get both replaced on my Honda Civic and wonder what the heck they are(can you tell I’m a girl, ha ha!)

The Drive Axle is the shaft from your front gearcase to your wheel. The Ball Joint is the part attached to the suspension links at the tip of the triangle it creates.

depending on the year and miles, i would just replace them both if they are both out,. the tie rod, i would call around to a junk yard, for the tie rod, you will save alot of money for sure. The axe (drive axle) is a very important item, that should be replaced [...]

I have on boot that is leaking on the right side of the front wheel
and the mechanic told i have to replace the whole thing for 300.00$
what do you think
any advice?

2009 Silverado LS Ext 4×4 4.8L 6.6′ box 3.42 Axle Ratio?
I’m really confused to how much my truck can handle. Help? I want to buy a truck camper. How heavy of a camper can I carry? Also chevy states 1500 standard boxes can not pull fifth wheels or goosenecks. Anyone pull one of these [...]

I have a 2003 standard transmission Toyota Tacoma 2 WD truck. For a little while I had noticed a buildup of grease on the inside of my driver’s side rear wheel and a burning oil smell. I called my local mechanic who just does tuneups, brakes + small stuff and he told me [...]

Hello, I have an 07 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. Wanting to upgrade my travel trailer to The Cougar XLite. My manual says I can tow 6700 lbs with a ratio of 3.23, or 7700 lbs with ratio of 3.73. How can I find my ratio?

If it has the factory tow package (or at least a 2-inch receiver hitch) you bet it can, and because it has a tandem-axle trailer, it’ll only tow better. That I-6 engine in the Envoy puts out 275 HP and has some decent torque, and the 19 footer won’t exceed the tow rating for the [...]

I keep noticing the shocks on trucks being on the opposite side of the axle from one another. My theory is that the axles are free swinging and the shocks apply horizontal pressure as well as vertical to keep it stable. I can’t find information on this elsewhere, so those of you who work on [...]

Any help appreciated. My sons car broke down last night and need to fix himself, no money to pay somebody. Any specific websites or someone who knows.

I’m currently in the process of assembling the necessary pictures, plans, and materials to begin constructing a 1/16th scale DUKW amphibious truck.
Since I actually plan to make my model amphibious and will need it to be able to pull itself out of the water, I figured that it is pertinent to make my model four [...]

Does anyone know how difficult it is to replace a CV Axle on a car? Specifically a 1992 Toyota Camry. I got a quote for $300+ and am trying to figure out if that is as good as it gets or if its something that I can find somone with some car knowledge to fix??
Thanks [...]

it depends on the year of the ranger and YES you do have a CV axle on four wheel drive trucks. you have to pull the wheel, remove the caliper, slide the 4×4 hub assembly off, underneath there will be a C-clip on the axle shaft, remove it, there will be a pair of [...]

It’s a ‘97 if that helps…

Any Ford dealer that sells commercial vehicles would be able to help you

When I took my 1995 Pontiac Sunfire in to the mechanic to replace the front brakes – I found out I needed back drum brakes too – they said that I had a ripped axle that could wait to be fixed. I heard them use the same words to describe this problem to [...]

I went to get the brakes checked on my beloved Subaru and the brakes turned out to be fine, but apparently my axle needs to be replaced (which I guess, explains the clicking sound the car makes whenever I’m turning left). I just want to know what can wait to be fixed and what [...]
