9 May 2009My overhead console has gone out but flashes on when I start my Ford Explorer so I know that the fuse simply needs to be changed. However, I don’t know which fuse needs to be changed. I have looked at online diagrams but none of them specificly states what fuse I need to change. Does anyone know exactly which fuse it is?

Probably an instrument fuse or map light fuse. But since it flashes on… one might think something else has gone wrong but a good place to start at is… check the fuse.
Learn how to use a test light. I use test lights to check everything. They will tell you if a fuse is blown, where you have power, where you don’t, if a switch is working or not. Anyone who does not know how to use a test light does not know the basics to diagnose a problem.
I’m not being mean… I just think you will save yourself lots of grief and money if you learn to diagnose with a test light.
