Drive axle – A metal bar that connects the transmission to the wheel. It’s what actually turns the wheel. Picture someone spinning an umbrella. The axle is the umbrella shaft and the umbrella itself is the wheel.
Ball joint – It’s a connector, generally in the steering system. There is a rod that connects to the wheel assembly that moves the wheels right or left via the steering wheel. The ball joint allows movement in multiple planes. (picture your shoulder or hip joint)
